Brantford C.Y.O. Invitational AAA
January 11 - 13, 2008

The Valhalla Girls Bantam team traveled to Brantford this past weekend to play in the Brantford C.Y.O. Invitational AAA tournament. This tournament is host to some of the best teams in Ontario and our girls draw included three of the top five clubs.

Their first game Friday night was against the Oakville Venom #1 team. The girls seemed nervous going into the game and it showed right from the start. A final score of 53-15 gave Oakville a good start. Scoring for Valhalla where Victoria Racine with 5, Christine Fleischer at 3, Bridget, Mackenzie and Yazmine each with 2, and Olivia Pawson with 1.

Our second game was Saturday against the Blessed Sacrament #1 team from Hamilton. Again the girls where stressed about playing a stronger AAA team. Our girls started off slow but finished off the game strong. The girls held scoring in the second and third periods to 1 point against. In the end the

Hamilton team came out ahead with a 59-22 win. Our goals came from Yazmine with 7, Victoria at 5, Erika 3, Christine, Alicia and Alex each with 2 and Olivia with 1.

In the final game Saturday evening the girls matched up against the Dundas Dynamo. The coaches could tell the girls seemed more relaxed going in to the game and their play showed it. The girls played very strong and in the fourth quarter outscored their opponent 13-6. In the end, the lack of

scoring opportunities at free throws lead to a 46-43 win for Dundas. Our scoring came from Olivia at 12, Christine with 10, Yazmine at 7, Melissa had 6, Bridget and Victoria with 3, April and Erika with singles.
