Barbara Gasser, secures a spot to
represent Austria at the 2009 World Championships in
London, England.
Barbara Gasser of Sarnia, Ontario, and a
member of Bluewater Gymnastics Club, competed at the
2009 Hungarian Grand Prix in Szombathely,
Hungary finishing 6th overall.
The Grand prix in Hungary was the final
stage of selection and preparation for 4 Austrian
Gymnasts who were eligible for the upcoming World
Championships in London England later this month. Gasser
was one of the four athletes from Austria that made it
to the second stage of selection and one of the final
two athletes to receive a score higher than the
qualification standard set by the Austrian National
Coach, Katharina Weiser.
Barbara lives in Sarnia and trains at
Bluewater Gymnastics Club , she maintains her Austrian
citizenship which allows her to represent her native
country, as well as attend domestic events in Canada.
Gasser posted the highest individual score on the Vault
in the preliminary competition at the "Grand Prix" event
and she also qualified for the event finals on the
uneven bars where she placed 7th.
