After a three day selection camp in
Mississauga Ontario, Gymnastics Canada announces the
team for the 2009 Junior Pan American Games.
Dominique Pegg of Sarnia Ontario, secured
the number one spot on the team with her excellent
performances at the selection activity held over the
past few days at the "Hershey Center" in Mississauga. "Pegg
was in excellent shape" said her coach Dave Brubaker
after her recent success at the "All Japan Junior
Competition" in Yokohama,Japan earlier this month,
where she qualified for two event finals and placed
fourth in the Floor Exercise. Pegg will be joined by
Canadian teammates Anysia Unick of Calgary, Madeline
Gardiner of Cambridge and Rochelle Hurt, of Mississauga.
The team will depart later this month to
represent Canada at the Junior Pan American
Championships, in Aracaju Brazil. This will be Peggs
second Junior Pan American Championship. She was also a
member of the 2007 team along with Bluewater Gymnastics
Club Teammate Emma Willis at the previous championships
in Guatemala City, Guatemala, team Canada finished in
the silver medal position being edged out of gold by
USA, and Pegg was the gold medalist on Vault.
