On Monday December 8, 2008
the Sharky's Boxing Club Officially opened with
a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Kathy Ure, Canadian Gold
Medalist and Ontario Provincial Bantam-weight Champion
and friends officially opened the New Training Facility,
Sharky's Boxing Club. With her dynamic style and
energy and all her credentials, Kathy is focused on
generating awareness about leading a healthy lifestyle
by continuing to train and educate youth and adults
across Canada.
Kathy, a repeating Ontario Provincial Bantam-weight
Champion and National Gold Medalist in 2003, continues
to bring attention to the sport of boxing with her
dynamic style and energy. She has recently retired
from competing, but is now involved as both a level 3
coach and level 3 boxing official. Additionally,
she serves on the executive for Boxing Ontario and helps
train current National athletes. Kathy's
love of boxing has lead her to design and instruct a
nation wide program called "Box-On" teaching youth in
public schools and high schools as well as adults.
Out of the gym, Kathey is an O.R. Nurse in London and
also at the Suncor Ethanol Plant as project Nurse. Kathy
originally is from London, Ontario but now resides in
Sarnia where she enthusiastically says "she loves this
town" as it's a great supporter of Boxing and Sarnia is
well known in the Boxing Circles Nationally.

Other instructors with the
new club are Billy Reid and Leisa Randall.
Billy Reid a local teacher who also is a NCCP Level 2
boxing coach, Sandiego: Cross fit Certified, Certified
Hockey Coach, Running Coach, Track and Field Coach,
Black Belt Kung-Fu, Kung-Fu Teacher, Ironman Triathlete.
Leisa Randall is also a NCCP Level 1
Boxing Coach, Certified personal trainer, Certified
group fitness Instructor, Certified cycling instructor,
Certified Yoga instructo, Certified Fitness appraiser,
Certified Level 2 twist conditional, Certified "Box-on"
Instructor.

To join the club Kathy is
looking for commitment from her boxers. They will
go through an pre-screen interview. They must
attend 3/4 of the training regime that includes the
Sharky's Adult cardio program and training 4 days a
week. Grades are important and their marks will be
monitor. Kathy's boxing goals are to make sure her
boxers compete and that they are appropriately matched
in bouts.
There is a cost involved to
join however they are seeking sponsorships to help those
in needs. The new club is also partnering with Big
Brothers.
Kathy has been a
great supporter of the Big Brothers organization over
the years, she has helped with countless fundraisers,
including most recently the Big Brother Spin on Thon
and is
presently training our team, for the February climb of
Mount Kilimanjaro.
