Several members of the Point
Edward skating club were recent winners at competitions held
in 2007.
In Windsor at the Isabelle Henderson Competition held on
October 20 - 21 Michael Marinaro won gold in the Jr. Men's
competition. Shannon Laur won gold in the Pre Juvenile
Ladies and Sarah Maturzic also won gold in Star Skate.
Other medal winners were 2nd place finishes by Haley
Magermans and Tianna Harvey.

At the John
McKay Competition in Tilbury on November 24 - 25 Sarah
Maturzic won her second gold medal in the Star Skate
Ladies division. Taryn Gladwish finished 2nd also
in Star Skate Ladies and 3rd place finishes by Cara
Greenaway for Develement Team and Lauren Hopkins for
Star Skate Ladies.
On November 8th & 11th at the BMO Skate Canada
Western Ontario Sectionals held in Grimsby,
Ontario Shannon Laur placed 1st for the Gold
Medal in the Pre Juvenile Ladies to earn her the
Ladies Western Ontario Championship title.
Micheal Marinaro placed second for the Silver
Medal in Jr. Men's.
This qualified him to skate at the Western
Challenge in Mississauga where he placed 7th
overall. Michael’s placement at Western Challenge qualified him to
compete at the national championships in Vancouver. He will be in
Vancouver from January 12th preparing for the event and then
competing between January 16- 21.
