The Sarnia Imperials started
their season off with a season/home opener win against the
Kingston Privateers. Leading rusher for the Imperials
was Adrien Brown going 107 yards and scoring 1 touchdown.
Joe Mason followed suit with a tough 85 yards and 2 TD's
breaking 5 takles late in the game for his second on a 28
yard scamper. Steve Perry was 6 for 18 for 106 yards
and rushed for 1 TD. Perry hooked up with Pat Wright
for a 27 yard pass to end the end zone.
In the defensive end for the
Imperials Charles Montegomery lead the team with 7 tackles
and Clifton Jackson was close behind with 5. A great
game by the defensive backfield with Norman Yellowman having
2 interceptions with a huge run back of 26 and 40 yards.
Andy MacDoanld chipped in with 2 interceptions with a 7 and
15 yard return. Final score Sarnia Imperials 31 - Kingston
Privateers 24.
This was the first win for
the Sarnia Imperials new coach Dave Allen who was very happy
with the outcome but said after the game that "we will work
on our mistakes".
The Imperials on on the road on Saturday June 7 when they travel to North
Bay to take on the Bull Dogs. Their next home game is
on Saturday June 14 when they host the Toronto Mad Dogs with
a 7:00 PM kick off. |
