Matt Hill became
the sixth golfer in NC State history
to finish first at the ACC
Championships after tying with
Clemson's David May this weekend at
the Old North State Club in New
London, N.C. Hill
and May finished at ten under (206),
two strokes ahead of Georgia Tech
golfers. The
last conference crown for NC State
was back in 1995 won by Hank Kim and
Hill is the sixth NC State golfer to
win the crown.
This is now the six victory for Hill
at NC State out of 21 tournaments,
with five wins in this school year.
Other victories were won at Hootie
at Bulls Bay, Hawks Invitational,
General Hackler Tournament, Schenkel
E-Z-Go and Pack's River Landing
Intercollegiate.
Hill extends his
own school record as the only golfer
at NC State to win five tournaments
in one school year and now has the
most for an NC State golfer of
all-time. PGA Tour member Tim
Clark previously held the record at
five.
At the ACC
Championship Hill shot a four-under
(68) in both the first and second
round and in the third round shot a
two-under (70). The NC State
team finished in a tie for fourth
place.
NC State will be back
in action next weekend, traveling to
Charlottesville, Va., and competing
in the Cavalier Classic. The Pack
will then await word on what region
NC State will be sent to for the
NCAA Regional Championships the
weekend of May 14-16. |
