Lambton at London
Friday November 27, 2009

The Jr. Sting were on the road Friday night for a match against London Jr. Knights Green.

London got the first goal of the game but the Jr. Sting’s Max Steeves replied just twenty seconds later to tie things up. London scored again early in the second to regain the lead but Daniel Wellington got things back to all-square mid-way through the second on a hard fought goal mouth scramble. Ryan Brown scored the next one on a great pass from Ryan Gould as the “Ryans” continue to produce. Brown made it 4-2 on the power play going “Roof Daddy” from close in on the backhand. The Jr. Knights Green made it very interesting scoring with just over five minutes to play to make it 4-3.

The Jr. Sting had to kill a penalty to end the game and when London pulled their goalie it was 6 on 4. Lambton’s forwards and defense along with goalie Ethan Hunt did everything necessary to get the win including sacrificing their bodies by diving to block shots.

Ethan Hunt got the win in net and arguably played his best game of the year. Ryan Brown had 2 goals, Max Steeves had 1 goal and 1 assist. Daniel Wellington had 1 goal, Jack Hackett, Ryan Gould and Ben Schoch each had 1 assist.

Lambton vs Kitchener
Sunday November 29, 2009

The Major Atom Jr. Sting were at home Sunday morning for a much anticipated rematch against the Jr. Rangers.

The Jr. Sting got off to a great start with Josh Barraclough burying one on a nice cross-ice pass from Daniel Wellington. Lambton continued to carry the play and looked to carry a one goal lead into the second period until an intercepted pass led to Kitchener getting their first goal with less than a minute to go in period one.

Lambton got the lead back late in the second period when a long shot from Jameson Hart eluded the Jr. Rangers goalie to give the Jr. Sting a 2-1 lead going into the third. The Jr. Sting were working hard and looked ready to up the lead to two on the power play until a Jr. Rangers forward jumped on a loose puck and scored a short-handed marker on a nice wrister to tie the game 2-2. That seemed to give the Jr. Rangers some momentum and put the Jr. Sting on the defensive. Kitchener got the go-ahead goal four minutes later and the next one a minute later to go up 4-2. The Jr. Sting applied pressure and Ryan Brown scored from a sharp angle with 14 seconds to go but Lambton could not get the equalizer and the game ended 4-3.

Lambton worked hard but found out how quickly things can change. The Jr. Sting are back in action Monday night against Elgin-Middlesex and hope to get back in the win column.

Josh Barraclough, Jameson Hart and Ryan Brown each had 1 goal. Daniel Wellington had 2 assists. Max Steeves and Nick DiScanno each had 1 assist.
