The Major Atom Jr. Sting hosted the London Jr. Knights-Gold team on Thursday night and after giving up an early goal at 1:30 into the game the Jr. Sting held their own against a strong London Gold team.
Both teams had a number of good chances to score with both the Jr. Knights goalie and the Jr. Sting’s Ethan Hunt making some great saves. The Jr. Knights picked up the 2nd goal of the game early in the 2nd period but the Jr. Sting’s Nick DiScanno replied on a breakaway to make the score 2-1 going into the 3rd. Brennan Mckegan assisted. The Jr. Sting continued to play right with the Jr. Knights and had some chances to get the equalizer. The Jr. Sting pulled their goalie to try to tie it up but could not make it happen and the Jr. Knights scored into an open net with 1 second left on the clock to make it a 3-1 final.
Ethan Hunt was strong between the pipes.
Noah Myers and Jameson Hart (in only his second game on defense) both played very well and Brennan Mckegan had his best game of the young season at center.
The Major Atoms put in a great effort and if they can maintain that level of play they should have some good results in future games.
