2009 - 2010

The opening ceremonies Saturday night included the introduction of two teams from the Lambton Shores Minor Hockey Association. Being recognized and congratulated for their recent success were the Girls Midget team and the Boys Bantam “A” team The Midget Girls were International Silver Stick Final Champions after winning all their games in the tournament held in Saugeen Shores. The bantam boys were winners of the two tournaments they entered this year. They were the tournament champions in Shelborne and in Schomberg this year. They also won all of their games in both tournaments.

 

The game itself between the Predators and the Stoney Creek Warriors wasn’t how the team wanted to finish up before heading off for their Christmas / New Years break. The Warriors jumped out to a quick 3 – 0 lead by the 8:41 mark of the first period. At that point coach Dan Mudge called a time out to allow his team to regroup. They responded by scoring a goal to close the gap to 3 – 1. Samir Jomma was the goal scorer with assists going to Brandon Ethier and Brendon Merrit. Unfortunately the Warriors answered back with two more goals to end the period leading 5 – 1. They also held a 16 – 9 edge in shots on goal in the period. The teams traded goals in the second period to close it out at 6 – 2.

 

Brandon Stewart scored for the Predators with Adam Arseneault and Matt Melo assisting. After two periods the shots were 30 – 15 for the Warriors. The third period also saw the visitors with a large edge in shots and they added two goals to their total to finish the game with an 8 – 2 victory.

 

Last Thursday the team traveled to Brantford to take on the Golden Eagles. After the first period the Predators were down 3 – 0. Brantford extended their lead to 5 – 0 in the second before the Predators got on track with a short handed goal by Brandon Stewart with Brendon Merrit and Brent Andriash assisting. Two more goals were added by the

 

Golden Eagles before the Predators answered back with two of their own to close the period trailing 7 – 3. Cody Curts from Coy Kulich and Kalvin Thornton scored one of the goals. Samir Jomma got the other goal with assists going to Matt Melo and Dave Hutchinson. Each team scored once in the third period. The Predators tally was scored by Ben Woodley with Adam Arseneault and Brandon Stewart assisting.

On the previous Tuesday the team traveled to St. Marys and dropped that decision 5 – 2. Ben Woodley scored the games first goal with help from Brandon Stewart and Matt Melo. Later in the game Coy Kulich scored the teams other goal with assists going to Adam Arseneault and Brandon Stewart.

 

The team now has several practices ahead of them before they resume their schedule on January 6th in LaSalle. That game will be followed  by a home game on Thursday night January 7th at 8:15 PM when the Predators take on the London Nationals at the Shores Recreation Centre.
