December 15 - 19, 2009
The opening ceremonies
Saturday night included the introduction of two
teams from the Lambton Shores Minor Hockey
Association. Being recognized and congratulated for
their recent success were the Girls Midget team and
the Boys Bantam “A” team The Midget Girls were
International Silver Stick Final Champions after
winning all their games in the tournament held in
Saugeen Shores. The bantam boys were winners of the
two tournaments they entered this year. They were
the tournament champions in Shelborne and in
Schomberg this year. They also won all of their
games in both tournaments.
The game itself between
the Predators and the Stoney Creek Warriors wasn’t
how the team wanted to finish up before heading off
for their Christmas / New Years break. The Warriors
jumped out to a quick 3 – 0 lead by the 8:41 mark of
the first period. At that point coach Dan Mudge
called a time out to allow his team to regroup. They
responded by scoring a goal to close the gap to 3 –
1. Samir Jomma was the goal scorer with assists
going to Brandon Ethier and Brendon Merrit.
Unfortunately the Warriors answered back with two
more goals to end the period leading 5 – 1. They
also held a 16 – 9 edge in shots on goal in the
period. The teams traded goals in the second period
to close it out at 6 – 2.
Brandon Stewart scored
for the Predators with Adam Arseneault and Matt Melo
assisting. After two periods the shots were 30 – 15
for the Warriors. The third period also saw the
visitors with a large edge in shots and they added
two goals to their total to finish the game with an
8 – 2 victory.
Last Thursday the team
traveled to Brantford to take on the Golden Eagles.
After the first period the Predators were down 3 –
0. Brantford extended their lead to 5 – 0 in the
second before the Predators got on track with a
short handed goal by Brandon Stewart with Brendon
Merrit and Brent Andriash assisting. Two more goals
were added by the
Golden Eagles before the
Predators answered back with two of their own to
close the period trailing 7 – 3. Cody Curts from Coy
Kulich and Kalvin Thornton scored one of the goals.
Samir Jomma got the other goal with assists going to
Matt Melo and Dave Hutchinson. Each team scored once
in the third period. The Predators tally was scored
by Ben Woodley with Adam Arseneault and Brandon
Stewart assisting.
On the previous Tuesday the team traveled to St.
Marys and dropped that decision 5 – 2. Ben Woodley
scored the games first goal with help from Brandon
Stewart and Matt Melo. Later in the game Coy Kulich
scored the teams other goal with assists going to
Adam Arseneault and Brandon Stewart.
The team now has several
practices ahead of them before they resume their
schedule on January 6th in LaSalle. That
game will be followed by a home game on Thursday
night January 7th at 8:15 PM when the
Predators take on the London Nationals at the Shores
Recreation Centre.
