Lambton Shores vs St. Marys
Last Saturday night’s
game provided great entertainment in the first of
back to back games against St. Marys (the second
taking place tonight ). It was also a special night
for the members of the Lambton Shores Minor Hockey
Atom AE team. The Atom team players and their head
coach Greg Garside were in attendance for a meet and
greet with the players of the Junior B team before
the game.
The Predators were out shot in the first period 19 –
9 but they managed to kill off two penalties. They
took a 1 – 0 lead into the second period on a goal
by Coy Kulich with assists going to Duncan
MacSorley and Ben
Woodley. Shots on goal in the second were 15 – 14 in
favour of the Predators. Each team scored once in
the frame. Ben Arseneault and Dave Hutchinson earned
assists on James Pursell’s goal. Down a goal to
start the third, the Lincolns came out fast and
maintained pressure in the Predators’ zone. It paid
off for them with two quick goals early in the
period allowing them to take the lead. Coach Dan
Mudge called a time out to re-focus his team and the
players got their game back on track. Increased
pressure by the Predators finally paid off at 14:12
of the third when Brandon Stewart capitalized on a
pass from Coy Kulich and Matt Melo to tie the game.
A late goal by St. Marys gave them a lead again and
the eventual 4 – 3 win. In the final minute the home
team went with 6 attackers. They had some chances
around the Lincoln goal and some anxious moments
when one icing attempt went wide of their open net
and another shot bounced over their open net at the
end of the game.

The previous Wednesday
the team traveled to LaSalle. It was a game that
LaSalle would jump out to a 3 – 0 lead. The

another to trail at the end of first period 4 – 3.
The Vipers took the second period 2 – 1 to go into
the third leading 6 – 4. Unfortunately LaSalle had a
big edge in shots on goal in the third and outscored
the Predators 3 – 1 to end the game with a 9 – 5
win. Brandon Stewart lead the scoring for Lambton
Shores with 2 goals on the night. Ben Woodley,
Kalvin Thornton and Adam Arseneault scored one each.
Adam Arseneault also earned 3 assists
in his 4 point night
Others earning assists were Dave Hutchinson and Matt
Melo with 2 each. Duncan MacSorley, Brendon Merrit
and Brandon Stewart were also awarded one assist
each in the game. Brandon Stewart’s efforts earned
him third star recognition in the game.
