Petrolia Squires vs Elora Rock

Western Ontario Senior AA Hockey League
April 2 - 3, 2010
After the Easter weekend the
series remain tied as each team won at home on the
weekend. On Friday the Squires traveled to Elora
and took a 5 - 3 loss.
The Rock took a 2 - 0 lead in the first period.
Mike Brito scored both goals for Elora. In the
second the Squires answered back and tied things up by
scoring two goals the first by James Edgar and the
second on a powerplay by Carson Simpson. The Rock
regained their lead with Jeremy Machin scoring his first
of three goals of the night. With just over five
minutes remaining in the period the Squires came back
and tied things up with Scott Hull scoring but before
the second was finished Jeremy went on and scored two
more goals giving him a hat trick. Period ended
with the Rock leading 5 - 3 and the score would remain
the same after the third.
On Saturday the two teams
were back in action in Petrolia. Both sides went
scoreless in the first period as action went end to end.
In the second period Dan Venema put the Squires on
the score board after scoring an unassisted powerplay
goal. The score would remain 1 - 0 at the end of
the second.
In the third the Squires
scored 4 unanswered goals the first at 1:37 into the
period by Pat Nahmabin from Casron Simpson and Jeremiah
Goodacre.
Simpson scored the second goal four minutes later
assisted by Nahmabin. Craig Laframboise scored the
second powerplay goal of the night assisted Dan Venema
and Jeremiah Goodacre and the final goal was scored in
the last five minutes of the game by Dan Venema assisted
by Craig Laframvoise and Mike Perry.
Outstanding in net and earning the shutout win for the
Squires was Justin Day making a total of 35 saves.
In the Elora's end the goaltending was shared by Blair
Sinclair who made 26 saves and Joe Aminger who replaced
Sinclair in the third made 5 saves.

Game five is in Elora on
Friday April 9th at 8:30 pm and then return to Petrolia
for game six the following night Sat April 10, for
an 8:00 pm puck drop.
