Petrolia Squires vs Monkton

The Monkton Wildcats drew
first blood in the opening minutes of game seven but it
was the Squires that prevailed and took a final 5 - 4
win to win the series four games to three.
After Monkton's first goal by Jeff Lepelaars, Jason
Polera scored back to back goals to take a 2 - 1 lead
for the Squries. Assisting on the first goal were Aaron
Brand and Pat Sutton and on the second were Pat
Nahmahin and
Greg Bailey. Blake Underwood of Monkton
answered back three minutes later to tie the period and
the two teams headed into the second tied 2 - 2.
In the second Petrolia regained the lead twelve minutes
into the period with Brad Cooper scoring with Scott Hull
and Aaron Brand assisting. Monkton took the lead once
again with Joe Southgate scoring a powerplay goal.
Again the period ended with both sides even and starting
with a clean slate heading into the third.
Third period action saw the
Wildcats take the lead three seconds shy of the four
minute mark period on an unassisted goal by Tim Vosper.
At 9:15 Ryan Chapman equaled the score once again with
Chris McPhail and Kyle Gould assisting. Exactly
one minute later Pat Nahmhin scored to take the lead and
what turned out to be the game winner as the Squires
held on to take the win. Assisting on the
final goal were Jason Polera and Dan Veenema.

Justin Day earned the win in
net for the Squires making a total of 17 saves.
Andrew Daub took the loss with a total of 26 saves.
The Squires now advance to
the division final against the Lucan-Ilderton Jets.
Game 1 is in Petrolia on Friday March 5th at 8:00 pm.
