Petrolia Squires vs Thedford Dirty Dogs

The Petrolia Squires opened
their 40th season at home and as winners with a 5 - 4
win over the Thedford Dirty Dogs.
Both teams went end to end in a scoreless first period.
Thedford took the lead in the second period with Trevor
Stratton scoring then made it 2 - 0 on a goal by Scott
Degroot. Petrolia's first goal came on a
powerplay by Scott Hull from Craig LaFramboise and
Carson Simpson. Mike Gardner tied things up late
in the period assisted by Craig LaFramboise. With
just :20 seconds left in the period Ryan Chapman made it
3 - 2 to take the lead. Assisting on Chapman's
goal were Aaron Brand and Jason Polera.
In the third the Squires doubled their lead to 4 - 2 on
an unassisted goal by Scott Hull. Thedford came
back less than a minute to narrow the lead with Criag
Evans scoring. Petrolia again took the 2 point spread on
an unassisted goal by Danny Larocque. At 14:51
Thedford came back with Trevor Stratton but the Squires
held on to the end to take their first win of the
season.
The Squires don't have time
to rest as they are on the road tonight (Sat Oct 10) to
Tillsonburg for a 7:30 start. Next home game is on
Friday Oct 23 starting at 8:00 pm.
