The
Sarnia Sting Midget A/AA team had a very busy week
playing 5 games in just 6 nights.
Sarnia 2 vs Woodstock 1
Derek D’Andrea scored the
opening goal and set up Jeff Schroeter for the game
winner against 1st place Woodstock. Ben Johnson turned
away all but one shot to help Sarnia secure the win.
West London 3 vs Sarnia 1
Sarnia opened the scoring
from a goal scored by Alex MacEachern with assists going
to Chris Taylor and Viktor Kovacs. London soon tied the
game on a power play goal. Good back and forth action to
start the 3rd
period before London struck first to take the lead half
way through the 3rd.
Sarnia pulled their goaltender Zac Lippiatt who played a
phenomenal game in favor of a 6th
attacker but were unable to find the back of the net.
London scored an empty netter to finish the game 3-1.
London Gold 3 vs Sarnia 2
First period action ending
1-1 with a nice tic-tac-toe play from D’Andrea to
Schroeter and then Taylor. London took the lead in the 2nd,
then made it 3-1 in the 3rd
before Sarnia’s MacEachern found top shelf to get Sarnia
within 1. Once again, this game was a battle of
goaltenders. Sarnia’s netminder Ben Johnson did just
about everything he could to keep Sarnia in this game.
Sarnia 6 vs Oakridge 2
Derek D’Andrea was on fire
again this night leading the team with a hat trick in
the 1st
period with assists going to Ryan Jennings, Trevor
Crawford and Jeff Schroeter.
Sarnia’s defense were put to
the test to help kill numerous penalties in this hard
hitting contest.
Other Sarnia goal scorers
for the night were Chris Losier, Kovas and Schroeter,
with assists going to Taylor, Kovacs and Losier. Zac
Lippiatt was in net for the win.
London Gold 3 vs Sarnia 1
Rematch between these teams
ended with Sarnia losing their final regular season
game. D’Andrea scored midway through the 3rd
period on a set up from Schroeter to come close, but
London responded late in the 3rd
finishing this game on top 3-1.
The Sting
will open their first 7 game play-off series against
West London next week.
