The Sarnia
Sting Minor Novice MD Hockey Club played their second game
of the weekend on Sunday afternoon at Germain arena and won
a thrilling, come from behind, nail biter 5-4 against their
rivals from West London. The Hawks opened the scoring in the
1st period, but Blake Butler quickly got the
Sting even on the power play scoring on a nice rush with
assists going to Lucas Delorenzo and Andrew Lemieux. The
second period was a strong defensive effort by both clubs
with Ethan Langford, of the Sting, making several key saves
and the efforts of Christopher Scott on the blue line were
not missed by the coaching staff earning Scott the “hardest
worker” hardhat. The Sting entered the 3rd not
knowing what intense excitement this group was going to
brings their fans.
The Sting
after falling behind in the 2nd ,quickly tied the
game on a beautiful top-shelf goal by Nicholas Medeiros who
was fed an amazing breakaway pass from Kaden Babcock. Lucan
Hazzard picked up his 3rd of the season on a hard
working effort in front of the West London net assisted by
his line mates Wil O’Leary-Dilosa and Medeiros. Falling
behind once again, it was Blake Butlers turn to dazzle the
Sting faithful. Butler notched his 24th of the
season, to tie the game at 4-4, on a great rush assisted by
defenseman Scott. Now it was time for the “smurf” line to
send the Sting fans home excited when Medeiros snuck the
game winner past the West London goalie on assists from
Hazzard & O’Leary-Dilosa. The theme for this game was never
give up, work hard & reap your rewards. Coach Babcock and
his staff had the team prepared to battle and the Sting and
the Hawks provided a tremendous hockey game for everyone in
attendance! |
