The Sarnia
Legionnaires
took Goliath
to the wall
last night.
But although
they gave
the giant a
good fight,
they
couldn't
quite finish
him off.
In fact, the
defending
Western Jr.
'B'
champions
were edged
4-2 by the
powerhouse
London
Nationals in
a game
played
before about
600 fans in
the Forest
City.
London,
which is in
first place
with a
record of
28-3-2, has
won all 17
of its home
games this
season.
With the
defeat, the
Legionnaires
have now
lost two
games in a
row. As a
result, they
have a
record of
13-14-5.
Captain
Tyler
Cicchini had
both Sarnia
goals,
giving him
14 on the
campaign.
Owen Rogers
picked up
two assists,
with single
helpers
going to
Jesse Drydak
and Shawn
Waldie.
It was a
chippy
affair that
saw 31
penalties
assessed,
including
fighting
majors to
Sarnians
Andy Sokol
and Steve
Farlow.

-
The
Legionnaires
were
flawless
in
shorthanded
situations,
killing

London
powerplays.
Going
into the
game,
the Nats
were
clicking
at a
remarkable
23.4 per
cent
with the
extra
man.
Sarnia
was
1-for-8
on the
powerplay.
-
Kyle
Washer
took the
loss in
the
Sarnia
net,
despite
the fact
that he
turned
aside 28
of 32
shots.
Coulter
got the
win,
blocking
20
pucks.
-
The
Legionnaires
return
to
action
next
Saturday
when

Sugar
Kings.
