FOREST –
Chase Clark had a four-point
night here Friday as the Sarnia
Legionnaires thumped the Lambton
Shores Predators 7-3.
The visitors
scored four times on the
powerplay, including twice with
a two-man advantage, to grab a
come-from-behind win before 489
fans, many of them from Sarnia.
The victory snapped a two-game
losing streak.
Sarnia now
has a 4-3-4 record, while the
Preds are 1-7-0.
Lambton Shores jumped into a 2-0
lead at the end of the first
period, thanks to goals by Wayd
Pitfield and Ben Woodley.
But the
Legionnaires came storming back
early in the second frame, with
captain Tyler Cicchini banging
in a cross-ice pass from Owen
Rogers.
Shortly after
that Joel Steeves, who found
himself with his back to the
Lambton Shores net, performed a
nifty spin-a-rama move and fired
home the tying marker.
The
Legionnaires kept pouring it on,
scoring two more powerplay goals
before the period ended. On one,
Clark jumped on a rebound from a
Sarnia shot that had just hit
the goal post and blasted it
into the net. On the other, Owen
Rogers grabbed a rebound from
yet another Sarnia shot that had
hit the post and buried it in
the back of the cage.
Early in the
third period rookie Josh Teschke
got loose in the slot and made
it 5-2. Two breakaways followed
in short order, with Clark
scoring on one of them and
Steeves on the other.
