Tonight the Sarnia Legionnaires go for the 1,500th win in franchise history.
Here's a preview of the game:
WHO – Sarnia Legionnaires (13-12-5) vs London Nationals (26-3-2)
WHERE – Sarnia Arena
WHEN – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 10
SIGNIFICANCE – The Legionnaires have won two in a row and four of their last five. A win tonight would move them two games above .500 and could signal that they're finally ready to start moving up the ladder in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League's Western Conference.
LAST OUTING – Sarnia defeated the Lambton Shores Predators 2-1 in a tight-checking contest played in Forest last Saturday. London whipped the Leamington Flyers 5-2 last night.
WHO TO WATCH
Sarnia – Jake Unsworth got his first junior goal Saturday.
London – Jim Campbell has five points in his last five games, while Kyle Moore has four in his last five.
HISTORY – The Nationals have won both games played between the clubs this year, 2-0 in Sarnia and 4-0 in London. Last year, they split six regular season games. In the playoffs, the Legionnaires defeated London 4-2 in games to win the Western Jr. 'B' championship.
LINEUP CHANGES – Legionnaire defenceman Kyle Flemington has been called up by the Saginaw Spirit of the OHL and will not dress for Sarnia tonight. Tyler Cicchini, Shawn Waldie and Tommy Ziolkowski are doubtful starters because of nagging injury problems.
MILESTONE – A win tonight would give Sarnia 1,500 regular season triumphs since the franchise was launched 60 years ago. That includes victories compiled under its various nicknames (Legionnaires, Sailors, Bees, Steeplejacks and Blast, and wins at both the Jr. 'B' and Tier 2 Jr. 'A' level).
