Legionnaires at Thorold

The Legionnaires travelled to Thorold to
compete in their first interconference game
of the season. The Thorold Blackhawks
are in the Golden Horseshoe Conference and
two of their players are former Sarnia
Legionnaires, Matt Abercrombie and Scott
Stafford.
Sarnia came home with a 7 - 4 loss
Thorold led after the first period by a
score of 2 - 1. Owen Rogers scored for
Sarnia in the first on a power play.
Thorold goal scorers were Joel Forestall and
Nathan Granitto.
Second period saw Sarnia back in the race
with two goals by Chase Clark to give Sarnia
the 3 - 2 lead. That lead lasted for
only :23 seconds before Thorold went on and
added three goals to take a 5 - 3 lead.
Sarnia's Tanner Tomlinson narrowed the gap
when he scored on the powerplay but before
the period ended Thorold added their 4th
goal of the period to take a 6 - 3 lead.
Joel Forestall, Ben Clair, Aaron Taylor and
Griag England each scored singles for
Thorold.
In period three ex-Legionnaire Scott
Stafford scored the only goal in the period.
Seth Anderson took the loss in net making a
total of 26 saves. Winning netminder
was Jordan Bowes with 24 saves.

went 2 for 9 in powerplay
opportunities - Thorold went 0 for
3.

Sarnia
is now 2-2-2 for the season and are
in a five-way tie for second place
in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey
League's western conference with six
points. The London Nationals leads
the pack with seven points.
