Coach Jeff
Perry
announced
Wednesday
that veteran
blueliner
Anthony
Donati has
been
reassigned
to the
Legionnaires
by the OHL
Plymouth
Whalers.
Donati, who
was referred
to on one
OHL fan web
site as a
“tank on
skates,”
stands 6'2
and weights
209 pounds.
Two years
ago, playing
with the
London 'AAA'
Major
Midgets, he
scored 20
goals and 20
assists in
63 games.
Last year,
he helped
the
Legionnaires
to first
place in the
regular
season,
scoring 11
goals and 15
assists. In
the
playoffs,
although he
missed
several
games due to
injuries, he
still
managed to
score a goal
and three
assists as
the
Legionnaires
won the
Western
Ontario
championship.
At the end
of the
campaign he
was named to
the league's
rookie
all-star
team.
This fall,
the
18-year-old
Donati
played in
eight games
with the
Whalers,
where he was
a
plus-three.
“He's
a nice
addition to
our lineup,”
coach Jeff
Perry said.
“He should
help
solidify our
back end.
He's got a
terrific
shot and
he's got
experience.
He gives us
another
option for
our
power-play.”
