Sarnia Legionnaires netminder Kyle Washer has won a major award. The 18-year-old has been named 'goalie of the month' for the month of January in the Western Conference of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.
Washer appeared in six games over that 31-day period, picking up five wins and an overtime loss. He also posted back-to-back shutouts.

Jan. 14 – Washer makes 31 saves as the Legionnaires shock the LaSalle Vipers 5-3 right in the Essex County town.

Jan. 16 – Washer turns aside 24 pucks as Sarnia edges the St. Marys Lincolns 7-6 in overtime at the Brock Street Barn.

Jan. 21 – Washer comes on in relief of Jesse Raymond, then makes 10 saves (while allowing two goals) as Sarnia losses 6-5 in overtime on the road against the Leamington Flyers.

Jan. 23 – Washer makes 21 saves as the Legionnaires crush the Lambton Shores Predators 8-2 at Sarnia.

Jan. 29 – Washer gets the first shutout of his Jr. 'B' career, kicking out 22 shots as Sarnia destroys the Leamington Flyers 9-0 right in the Tomato Town.

Jan. 30 – Washer gets his second straight shutout, making 28 saves as the Legionnaires defeat the St. Thomas Stars 4-0 at the Sarnia Arena. By the time he finally gave up a goal, during the first game in February, he had gone 190 minutes and 20 seconds without letting a puck get behind him.
