The Point
Edward Novice team notched a 14-0 victory against the
East Lambton Eagles in their third straight win of the
season.
The Point
started the game with a flurry of chances deep in the
East Lambton end. The Eagles’ goalie made some great
saves to prevent the Point from getting on the board for
the first few shifts. The Point Boys kept the pressure
up and were rewarded with an unassisted goal by Cole
Whitworth with 7:46 left in the first. The Eagles put up
a good defence but the Point scored 3 goals in 64
seconds near the end of the first to put them up 4-0 at
the end of the 1st period.
In the
second period, the Blackhawks kept up the pressure in
the Eagles’ end with solid bluelining from the entire
defensive corps who kept the play around the East
Lambton net. Point Edward came out of the period with
another 4 goals to take a commanding 8-0 lead.
In the
third period, the Point showed their depth with another
6 goals coming from 5 different players, including the
final goal of the game with only 1 second left on the
clock! Over the game, 14 players managed to get their
names on the score sheet.
Luke
Crombeen was tested to earn his first shutout of the
season with a brilliant set of splits on a breakaway by
East Lambton in the third that had net written all over
it.
Owen
Shearon scored his first hat trick of the season with 3
goals and 1 assist. Cole Whitworth marked his first hat
trick of the season, as well. Jared Henry made a great
contribution with 2 assists!
