The Sarnia Major Atom Sting were involved in 2 more league games this past weekend, coming up with 1 win and 1 loss.

On Saturday, in Cambridge, the Sting again jumped out to a strong start carrying the play for most of the period, with Brett Allardyce (assist Lucas Ross) opening the scoring for a 1 – 0 lead at the end of the period.  The Sting were able to extend the lead to 2 – 0 at the beginning of the 2nd period on a wrap around goal by Lucas Ross (assist Matthew Torti).

The Cambridge goalie stood tall in net the rest of the period, keeping his team in the game and the Hawks were finally able to break through with a goal at the beginning of the 3rd period.  The Sting responded quickly with what turned out to be the game winning goal by Dawson Young (assist Tristan Haagsma) to restore their 2 goal lead.  Cambridge scored late to narrow the lead, but Sarnia was able to hang on for the 3 – 2 win with Max Musico playing a solid game in the net.

On Sunday the Sting were back at home to face a strong London Knights Green team in what turned out to be a penalty filled contest.  The Sting found themselves in 1st period penalty trouble and the Knights would score twice on the power play to take a 2 – 0 lead after 1 period.  In the 2nd period, the Sting would pick up the pace of their game and were able to draw a number of penalties.  The Sting applied some excellent pressure on the power play, but were unable to solve the strong London netminder.  The parade to the penalty box continued in the 3rd period, with both teams going to the box several more times.  London picked up another power play goal and added a short handed goal for a final score of London 4, Sarnia 0.  James Dunn played solid in goal for Sarnia, keeping his team in the game.
