August 9, 2010

The first game was against Colorado.  We were winning one nothing at half but ended up losing 4-2.  I had two assists but only got credit for one.  The team was OK but they had one really good player.

The second game was against New York.  Last year this team won the AA division.  We started out getting a bench minor off the start for going on the pad too early even though the other team was out at the same time and actually had their entire team on the pad before we had 3 players out.  We had a final score of 5-5 and I scored the second goal.  At half we were winning 2-0.  Most of the goals were scored in the last few minutes in a back and forth scoring game.

Tomorrow (Tuesday) I will be in the breakout skills competition and a late night game against Florida.

In between games we had a fun day at Navy Pier and strolled the boardwalk and checked out the sites from the 150 ft Ferris Wheel.

Thanks for everyone who helped me get here and gave me extra support.   SMAA inline, Mrs. Margaret Dee, Yvonne and Mark Travis and everyone who came out to the book sales we had at the Petrolia Farmers Market.

Day 2 & 3

Day 2
Today we had a long day.  In the morning I competed in the skills competition in the break away category.  I shot high both times and skimmed over the net putting me out of the competition.  Our goalie, Nick Caranfa won the goalie award for the event.  Tues night we had a late game and faced the yet unbeaten Florida team  The first 13 seconds saw both teams scoring and then it calmed down.  The final score was 4-3 for us.  This was a nice win over a strong team.

Day 3
This morning we had an early game against Missouri.  We came out really strong with a 4-0 lead but let the other team take over the second half and ended up with our second 5-5 tie.  This put us in a 3 way tie for 4th place but because of seeding we ended up 5th in the AAA division and had to replay Florida.  Because of our seeding the game was sudden death for us instead of other divisions which allowed quarter final losses to continue on.  This time they came out strong as it was their first game of the day.  It ended up a 3-1 loss but the final goal for them was an empty netter.

The team was fun to play with and it was really exciting to be here.  I got to watch both Kyle and Kurt Adams play and congratulate Kyle for his amazing efforts and hope Kurt wins too.  I had an amazing time even while playing defence for the first time in competitive play.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support and leave messages here.  Thanks especially to Pat for taking time to come talk to us and putting up this page.  I hope I am able to compete again with some of these guys and maybe even the next State Wars Inline Championship.
