Pacers Win Silver at Provincials
The Sarnia
Bantam Pacers won the Silver medal this year in
the Provincials held in St Catherines August 15,
16 & 17.
They had an extremely strong weekend finishing
with a 5-1 record. The first game saw an
enthusiastic Pacer squad easily handle Halton
Hills winning 9 – 3. Kyle Jackson was the top
point getter for the Pacers with 7 points (4g,
3a) while Dan Charlton netted 3 goals. Adam
Lebrasceur also had an assist. Devon Kohn
earned the victory in net Game 2 Sarnia found
themselves in tough against Fergus, but
persevered and came out with a decisive 7-3
victory. Kevin Conroy was the star of this game
tallying 3 goals. Kyle Jackson earned 3 points
(2g, 1a) with Dan Charlton, Cody Ross, Mitchell
Dougthy and Pee Wee call-up Liam Wright chipped
in for 2 points each. Llew Falla was stellar in
net to earn the win. To round out the Round
Robin play, Sarnia defeated Akwasasne by a score
of 10-1. Kyle Jackson put in 6 points (4g, 2a)
while Dan Charlton and Connor Smith put in a 3
point performance. James Riley and Kevin Hussey
also collected assists. Devon Kohn was solid in
net.
In the Quarterfinals Sarnia faced off against
Niagara on the Lake. In a hard fought game
Sarnia was able to fend off a swarming Niagara
team to earn an 8-5 win. Kyle Jackson was the
horse again for the pacers with a 7 point
performance (6g, 1a) while Kevin Conroy chipped
in for 4 points (1g, 3a). Llew Falla was once
again stellar in net. In the Semi-Final game
Sarnia squared off with Orangeville. After
falling behind for the first time all
tournament, Sarnia dug deep to come up with a
hard earned 7-3 win. Jackson tallied 5 points
(3g, 2a) while Charlton put in 3 points (2g, 1a)
and Connor Smith had 2 points. Devon Kohn put
the wall up in net to fend off a relentless
Orangeville attack.
This put Sarnia in the Finals against a very
strong Owen Sound Team. In a hard fought back
and forth game Owen Sound narrowly came out on
top with a 7 –5 victory. Jackson netted 3 points
(2g, 1a) while Conroy, Charlton and Pee Wee call
up Davis Prince rounded out the scoring for the
Pacers. Devon Kohn and Llew Falla shared
goaltending duties and both played superbly.
Other notable standouts for the tournament were
defensive specialists Tyler Smith, Mike Hummell
and Josh Plain. Their tough play in the
defensive end made for a bad day for many of the
opposing players.
This tournament was a great finish to and
extremely productive year. The Coaching staff of
Shaun Kennedy, Mike Jackson and Ken Barrett
would like to thank Randy Dunn and Mal Coats for
helping out and a big thank you to all the
players for a phenomenal year.
