The Sarnia Jr. B Pacer held
their annual awards banquet at
Huron Oaks on Thursday to close
off the 2008 season.
Earning the Douglas Daye Award
for "Heart, Hustle & Desire went
to Riley Thompson who
later on was presented with the
Cal Adam Memorial Award for
Unsung Hero.
The Best Defense Award was
presented to Mike Butler.
The Harold Snell Memorial Trophy
for Most Sportsmanlike Player
went to Ryan Charteris.
Charteris earned his second
award
along with Justin Matthews who
both shared the Rookie of the
Year Award.
Most Improved player went to Chris Gibbs and the Tom Wright Award for the
most dedicated player was
awarded to Chris Theoret.
The Jack Zonneville Award for
Most Valuable Player went
to Jesse Thomson. Thompson
also earned the In Motion Award
for Heath, Fitness and Wellness.
The final award of the night
went long time supporters of
Pacer Lacrosse Pam & Neil
Churchill who
earned the High Achievment Award
in the Sport of Lacrosse.
They were honoured for their
dedication
and service throughout the year.
Head Coach John Dark addressed
the players, families and
friends after the awards
ceremony
and praised the players on the
season. Despite having a slow
start he felt that this was a
transition year
for the team and he is looking
forward to next year with many
2nd and 3rd year players
returning.
The team went 5 - 14 - 1 for the
2008 season.
