Bedevil the Pacers

Again, the Pacers staked the
opposition to a large lead and
then had to chip away at it ...
with the same results - too
little too late. Picking up the
win for Wallaceburg was Matt
Glover and taking the loss
for the Pacers was starter
Greg Krstic.
1st Period:
Wallaceburg reeled off five
straight goals before the game
was 7 minutes old. They began
early with a Rob Pollock
goal at 1:44 from Josh Lucier
and Chadd Murphy.
Sarnia's Lance Ross was to take
a high sticking goal at 4:14 but
it was negated by a Reid
Miller goal from Pollock
and Lucier. Notching one
just 38 seconds later was
Seth Griffith from
Pollock and Murphy.
Sarnia took two bench minors at
5:25 and found themselves
playing on the short side of a
five on three. Serving the
minors were Connor Wright and
Josh Bujaki and these penalties
would lead to two power play
goals by Wallaceburg. The two
man advantage goal was at 5:48
off the stick of Griffith
from Pollock and
Lucier while the single man
advantage goal came at the 6:14
mark and was scored by
Pollock with assists to
Griffith and Lucier.
Sarnia's lone goal was a
Jimmy Purves marker at 11:38
with an assist to Jesse
Thompson. Wallaceburg
restored their five goal lead
with 19 seconds remaining with a
goal by Ossie Long from
Lucier and Murphy.
Shots on goal: Wallaceburg -
17 Sarnia - 8. Wallaceburg
had the only power play chances
this period and were 3 for 3 on
them.
2nd Period:
Wallaceburg continued to build
on their lead with a goal at the
4:35 mark and then another 9
seconds later by Griffith
from Shognosh. The Red
Devils cashed in on yet another
five on three opportunity when
Sarnia's John Pilkey was off
serving a double minor (roughing
and high sticking) to
Wallaceburg's Long who received
two minutes for roughing - the
two of them going off at the
6:07 mark. Joining them 9
seconds later was Sarnia's Mike
Butler who was caught for
holding. Wallaceburg again
struck while enjoying the two
and single man advantage. The
would score a five on three goal
at 6:32 off the stick of
Clint Lamarsh from Murphy
and Reid Miller then get
an unassisted goal at 6:59 by
Pollock while the Red Devils
enjoyed playing five on four
lacrosse. Sarnia made a goal
tender change after this goal to
Justin Matthews. They
would also score the next two
goals. Notching his first of the
game at 10:26 was David
Hornblower with an assist to
Lance Ross. Just 28
seconds later, Jimmy Purves
of the Pacers bulged the twine
for the home team. Picking up
assists were Riley Thompson
and Justin Matthews.
Wallaceburg got one of them back
with 2:10 remaining off the
stick of Griffith from
Justin Belanger. Shots on
goal: Wallaceburg - 12/29
Sarnia - 15/23. Wallaceburg was
again a perfect 3 for 3 with the
man advantage and Sarnia was 0
for 2 on the power play this
period.
3rd Period: The
Red Devils found themselves down
a man at 1:56 when Murphy took a
holding penalty and Sarnia
capitalized with a power play
goal a the 3:01 mark. Notching
the goal was Riley Thompson
from Jimmy Purves and
Connor Wright. Wallaceburg
got that one back at 5:46 when
Lucier struck for yet
another Red Devils goal. An
assist went to Pollock.
Sarnia continued to get closer
on a Jimmy Purves goal at
the 11:13 mark and picking up
assists were Terry Millar
and Jordan Gladwish.
Goal number six for the In
Motion Pacers was scored by
T. J. Mara at 15:03 with
help from Joe Allison and
Justin Matthews. Just 58
seconds later it was Riley
Thompson swishing the net
for the home team. Picking up
the lone assist was Josh
Bujaki. With the teams
playing four a side, Sarnia
struck for their final goal at
18:03 that came off the stick of
Jesse Thompson with
assists to Jimmy Purves
and Mike Butler. Shots
on goal: Wallaceburg - 13/42
Sarnia - 12/35. Wallaceburg was
1 for 4 with the man advantage
this period and were 7 for 8 in
the game. Sarnia was 1 for 2 on
the power play this period and
were 1 for 4 in the game.
