Sarnia vs. Sun County – 10 am game

 

The Tyke Pacers were on the road Sunday to Leamington for a two-game day. The teams were originally scheduled to meet in early June but the games were cancelled and rescheduled due to the devastation of the tornado that hit the area.

 

The Pacers scored two goals within the first two minutes of the game. Christian Spitzig scored within seconds after the face-off and Carter Barron scored a goal shortly after, assisted by Brett Vince. Unfortunately, Sun County was also on their game today and scored five goals in the first period giving them the lead by the end of the first period.

 

The boys started playing more aggressive in the second period and the Pacers would spend four minutes in the penalty box and Sun County would spend six minutes in the box. Carter Barron scored the only Pacers goal this period and Sun County kept up their momentum, scoring three more goals.

 

The Pacers spent even more time in the penalty box in the third and so did Sun County with six minutes each for both teams. The penalty time didn’t stop Sun County from scoring four more goals.

 

The final score of the game was 12/3 for Sun County.

After lunch, the boys met up with Sun County for game two. Simon Doan played goalie for the second game giving Sean Foster an opportunity to play his first game as a player and both boys did great a fantastic job!

 

The Pacer’s first goal was scored by Carter Barron, assisted by Kyle Haas. Sun County scored two goals only giving them a small lead by the end of the first period. Both teams spent time in the penalty box.

 

Barron was on fire in the second period and had several shots on net. Barron scored one goal this period, however Sun County scored five goals giving them a greater lead.  

 

The last period would only have one goal scored by Carter, assisted by Sean Foster. Simon was making some great saves in net.

 

The final score of the game was 7/3 for Sun County.

 

The Tyke Pacers are now off until the Zone Days in Wallaceburg on July 24th.
