On
Saturday night the Flags were
hammered and took a 12 - 1 beating
by Wheatly. Wheatly scored 6
goals in the first period, 4 in the
second and 2 in the third before
Steve Mercier scored the lone goal
for Mooretown. Assisting on
the goal were Adam Teschke and
Elliott Lewis. Jeff Steadman
was having a rough night in net
making just 14 saves and allowing 12
goals before the coaching staff
finally replaced Steadman with
Justin Belanger who made 12 saves
allowing 0 goals. |

Putting this game behind them the
Flags bounced back the next night as
they travelled to Blenhein with a
short bench that consisted of 11
players and 2 goalies. In the
first period Steve Mercier scored
twice the first shorthanded
unassisted and the second after he
was awarded a penalty shot and was
successful. Blenhein scored a
single before the period was
complete to make it 2 - 1 heading
into the second. |

In the
second Mike Burns scored the single
unanswered goal to put the Flags up
3 - 1. Jordan Pennesi and
Steve Mercier assisted on the goal.
And in the third the Flags widened
their lead to 4 -1 when Spencer
Lightfoot scored a powerplay goal
assisted by Mike Berry and Elliott
Lewis.
Justin Belanger was in net for the
win. |
The Flags
have a 3 game road series with games in
Dresden on Dec 14, then to Wallaceburg on
Dec 19 and in Alvinston on Dec 21.
They are back at home on Saturday Dec 22
against Alvinston with a game starting time
at 7:30 pm.
