Mooretown Tied Essex

On home ice the Mooretown Flags tied the South
Division leaders with a final score of 3 - 3.
Both sides went scoreless in the first period
and the Flags went up 3 - 1 heading into the
third. Flags first goal was scored on the
powerplay by Donny Bowling assisted by Mike
Burns and Cody Chute. They took a 2
- 0 lead a couple of minutes later on a goal by
Tyler Fraser from Cody Chute and Spencer
Lightfoot. With 7:39 left on the clock the
'73's scored however another powerplay goal
would give the Flags a 3 - 1 lead heading into
the third period. Scoring the powerplay
goal was Mike Burns assisted by Cody Chute.
Early in the third Essex closed the gap when
they scored 2 back to back powerplay goals to
tie things up. The period would end
sending the game into a scoreless overtime to
end the game with a 3 - 3 tie giving each a
single point. Mooretown went 2 for 13 on
the powerplay and Essex's went 2 for 9.
Jeff Steadman was in net for the Flags saving a
total of 28 shots. Ryan Barnett was in for
the 73's with a total of 27 saves.
The Flags are back in action on Saturday night
when they host Alvinston. Game time is at
7:30 pm. |
