Mooretown Flags vs Alvinston Flyers

On Thursday the Flags continued pre-season play with a close win over the Alvinston Flyers that ended with a final score of 6 - 5. In the first meeting of the pre-game series Alvinston took the win by a score of 5 - 1.

After the 1st period the Flags were leading 1 - 0 with Jordan Pennesi scoring.  In the second Mooretown added 2 more goals by Donny Bowling and Mike Berry and Alvinston answered back with a pair.Matt Melo scored both Flyers goals the first on a powerplay.

The final period Mooretown took the 3 point lead after scoring the first 2 goals in the period.  The first goal was scored by Spencer Lightfoot and the second on the powerplay by Donny Bowling. The Flyers fought back and came back with a pair with the first by Matt Melo (his third of the night for the hat trick) and Chad Bell.  Mooretown added their final goal late in the game with Donny Bowling adding his 3rd goal for the hat trick.  Alvinston fought back and in the final minute with their goalie pulled narrowed the Flags lead to 1 with their final goal scored by Richard Taylor.  However it wasn't enough giving the Flags the win with the final score of 6 - 5.

Pre-Season action continues tonight in Mooretown when the Flags host Blenheim at the Moore Sports Complex - game time 7:30.
