2008-2009 Awards Banquet

The Mooretown Flags recently held their awards and appreciation banquet
at the Corunna Legion. Honors goes to the following players:

Orville Druiett Memorial Trophy
Best Defenseman
Travis Mullen

presented by Dale and Marilyn Druiett

Orville Druiett was a trainer with the Flags organization
and some of this year's coaching staff had the privilege
of having Orville being their trainer and who appreciated
the long hours and years and a huge commitment to nurse
and take care of the players.

Robbie Beaton Memorial Trophy
Rookie of the Year

This award is presented on behalf of the
 Beaton family  in memory of their son Robbie. 
The Beaton family were strong supporters of the
Mooretown Flags and Mooretown Hockey.

Clarence "Slash" Evans Memorial Trophy
Most Sportsmanlike Player
Adam Little

"Slash" was an avid fan of the Mooretown Flags
over the years who was always seen
leaning against the top rail cheering on the team!

Garry McDonald Memorial Award

Gary McDonald was an active member of the
Mooretown Executive for many years. 
Gary was a behind the scenes kind of guy who ran the clock, helped at the bingos and other fund raising events.

Ross McCormick Memorial Trophy
Most Valuable Player

This award that is presented to the
most valuable player in memory of Ross McCormick.
Ross was a quiet, out of the limelight volunteer who spent long hours as an executive, fund raiser, taxi driver and dedicated team helper at the rink.


Ron "Pork" Laur Scholarship Award

Ron "Pork" Laur  was a proud avid fan and promoter of the Mooretown Flags Team and Organization.  This Scholarship Award is given to a local player who exemplifies a hard work ethic, strong team play, a desire to play the best he can, exhibiting manners of a gentleman and who enjoys the game of hockey.

GLJC Scholarship Award

The GLJC Scholarship Award is presented annually to a player from every team in the league who is currently enrolled in a Post Secondary School. The award is made possible from all of the efforts of the GLJC league.

Overage Sweater Presentation
Steve Mercier, Tyler Fraser,
Cody Chute, Adam Teschke

Sweaters are presented annually to the overage players.

Players Presentation
To conclude the presentations the Players made a special presentation to the coaches.  Accepting the
award is Assistant Coach Sean MacDonald.
