Mooretown Flags vs Dresden Jr. Kings
game 1
Mooretown lost
game 1 by a score of 6 - 3 in the second
round of playoffs in Dresden on Friday.
Dresden took the Flags by surprise in this
penalty free period and opened the scoring
just :41 seconds into the game. End to end
action continued until the Jr. Kings went up
2 - 0 late in the period at 18:24.
Scoring in the first were Scott Gawne and
Blake Blondeel.
Dresden continue
the scoring streak with another early period
goal this time at the :20 second mark by
Jeremy Park. Dresden took the
comanding lead and went up 4 - 0 at 12:13
with Scott Gawne scoring his second of the
night.
Mooretown finally answered back at 15:27
with Donny Bowling from Mike Burns and
Travis Mullen scoring. And the
momentum continued as Steve Mercier fired
one in just :17 seconds later to cut the
lead to 4 - 2 for the Jr. Kings.
Assisting on Mercier's goal were Donny
Bowling and Joradan Pennesi.
Mike Burns
narrowed the lead at 4:08 into the third
with assistance from Josh Teschke and Adam
Little. Dresden answered back at the
half way point of the period when Kyle Vink
scored. The only powerplay goal of the
game came at the hands of Scott Gawne
scoring his third of the game for the
hattrick. Time ran out giving game 1
to Dresden.
Total shots on
goal Dresden 33 - Mooretown 31.
Mooretown went 0 for 3 in powerplay
opportunities, Dresden went 1 for 2.
Mooretown received a total of 11 penalty
minutes on 5 infractions, Dresden received
18 on 6 infractions.
Game 2 is in
Mooretown on Monday March 2 with a game time
set for 8:00 pm.
