Mooretown
Flags at Alvinston Flyers
The Flags won
round 1 of the home/home series in Alvinston
on Friday night taking a 4 - 3 win.
Donny Bowling
opened the scoring at 2:47 on a powerplay
with assistance by Josh Teschke and
netminder Kyle Washer earning his first
point. At the 4:56 mark Tyler Fraser
score the Flags second goal from Adam
Teschke and Cody Chute. Alvinston lit
up the scoreboard at 12:48 on a goal by
Vance Jardine. The period ended with
the Flags leading 2 - 1.
At 1:42 into the
second Alvinston's Adam Steadman scored the
tying goal only to have Mooretown regain the
lead at 4:30 with Josh Teschke from Mike
Burns scoring. Mooretown would widen
their lead at 11:43 on a shorthanded goal by
Spencer Lightfoot assisted by Aaron Schieman.
Alvinston would narrow the gap 2 minutes
later when Darryl Podolinsky scored.
The score at the end of 2 periods of play
was 4 - 3 and that would remain the same
after the 3rd to give Mooretown the win.
Total shots on
goal were even with a total of 38 each.
Kyle Washer was in net for the Flags for the
win and Brodij Gerryts took the loss.
The two teams
will meet again today (Jan 30) in Mooretown
for the second game of the home/home series.
