Mooretown at Alvinston

Mooretown bounced back after taking a 3 - 0 loss on
Friday against Wallaceburg and defeated the
Alvinston Flyers
by a score of 5 - 4 on Sunday afternoon.
Mooretown took a 1 - 0 lead in the first period
after Spencer Lightfoot scored a powerplay goal
assisted by Tyler Fraser and Jordan Pennesi.
Donny
Bowling put the Flags up 3 - 0 scoring back to back
goals the first unassisted and the second on another
powerplay assisted by Dave Hutchinson and Chris
Cloutier.
Before
the period was over Alvinston answered back with
three powerplay goals to even the score 3 all
heading into the 3rd. Chris Edwards scored 2
of the Flyers goal with Jake Unsworth scoring a
single.
Third
period action saw Mooretown go up by two with goals
by Josh Teschke from Mike Burns and Jordan Pennesi
and Donny Bowling scoring a hat trick with his 3rd
goal of the game with assistance from Adam Teschke
and Steve Mercier. Alvinston fought back with
a single at 19:34 with Mitch Coultes scoring,
but it wasn't enough as they were stopped by
Mooretown netminder Justin Belanger giving Mooretown
the 5 - 4 win.
Mooretown outshot the Flyers by 41 - 35.
Mooretown went 2 for 11 on the powerplay, the Flyers
went 3 for 10.
The
Flags are on the road for the next 2 games with
games in Kingsville on Jan 10 and in Dresden on Jan
16. They are back on home ice on Saturday
January 17 when they take on Essex at the Moore
Sports Complex. Game time 7:30. |
