The Mooretown
Flags have dug themselves a hole in their second
round playoff series against Dresden.
The Flags are down 3-0 in the series after
dropping a 4-3 decision last night to the Jr.
Kings.
Joel Stepniak opened the scoring for Dresden at
the 12:54 mark of the first. Mooretown managed
to tie the game and even take the lead for a
couple minutes in the second frame. Jordan
Pennesi fired home a set-up by Raymond Martin to
tie the game at ones. Pennesi's third of the
playoffs was a power play goal.
Cody Chute gave the Flags a one goal lead. Alex
Dawson picked up the assist.
Dresden's Joe Deboer scored just over a minute
later to tie the game going into the third.
Scott Gawne put one past Flags starter Kyle
Washer just 20 seconds in the the third to put
Dresdn up.
Dan Hyatt scored near the mid-way point of the
final frame to give the Kings a two goal lead.
Pennesi scored his second of the game with nine
minutes left in the third but it wasn't enough.
Former LCCVI goalie Eric Steinman stopped 40 of
the 43 shots he faced to post the victory for
the Kings.
Washer stopped 41 of the 45 he faced in the
loss.
The Flags will look to stave off elimination on
Saturday at home when they host the Kings for
Game 4.
Puck drop will be 7:30 p.m.
