Mooretown Flags vs Dresden Jr. Kings

Stayin' Alive is
the name of that tune as the Mooretown
Flags bounce back with a strong 6 - 1 finish in
front of 525 hockey fans at the Mooretown Sports
Complex Saturday night.
The Flags
were trailing 3 games to 0 in the series and
needed this win to continue on.
"The team played intensively tonight something
that has been lacking since the Wallaceburg
series" Coach Aberhart said after the game.
"They also played their positions well and most
importantly they were scoring" with the first
goal coming early at 1:19 while shorthanded.
Cody Chute scored the shorthanded goal
unassisted.

Action went back in forth and with :20 seconds
remaining in the first Mooretown went up 2 - 0
after Adam Teschke scored a powerplay goal with
Tyler Fraser and Cody Chute assisting.
In period two
Travis Mullen skated in alone and scored the
third goal for the Flags unassisted, followed by
Darby MacKinnon who took the shot and it bounced
off of the glove of the Jr. Kings netminder Eric
Steinman. Adam Tescke and Chris Cloutier
were credited with assists.
The first and only goal for Dresden was scored
on the powerplay late in the second period by
Joel Stepniak from Drew Poissant and Ryan Cook.
The Flags went on
and scored two more goals in the third with the
first at 4:49 by Tyler Fraser from Travis Mullen
and the second and final goal of the game at
9:43 by Steve Mercier assisted by Spencer
Lightfoot and Travis Mullen who earned his 3rd
point of the night.
"Kyle has been
solid for us" Coach Aberhart said about his
goalie Kyle Washer who earned the win "he's our
extra blue liner". Washer made a total of
28 saves in the game.
For Dresden Eric Steinman who in previous games
has been solid was having an off night and was
replaced by Nick Zavitz in the second period
after the 4th goal was scored. Steinman made a
total of 12 saves, Zavitz made 21.
The Flags went 2
for 11 in powerplay opportunities, the Jr. Kings
went 1 for 9. Mooretown received a total
of 50 minutes on 13 infractions. For
Dresden they took 54 minutes on 15 infractions.
"If the team can remain this intense on
Monday we'll be back on Wednesday" said
Coach Aberhart as Dresden leads the series 3
games to 1. Game 5 is in Dresden with Game 6
slated for Mooretown. Game times for
both games is at 7:30 pm.
