Mooretown Flags vs Dresden Jr. Kings
game 5
March 9, 2009
by Kyle
MacKinnon
The Mooretown
Flags are not giving up in their second
round battle against Dresden.
Despite trailing in the series 3-1 the Flags
closed the gap to 3-2 with a 5-4 overtime
victory in Game 5.
They were led by a player that only scored
nine points all year.
It was a game to remember for Jeff Paulley.
The Flags trailed 4-1 late in the second
(Jordan Pennesi scored the Flags goal).
Paulley managed to put one past Dresden
starter Eric Steinman with only 10 seconds
left in the middle frame to pull the Flags a
little closer, 4-2.
Pennesi and Mike Burns set-up Paulley's
second of the playoffs.
That seemed to be the turning point of the
game.
Adam Little scored near the midway point of
the third. Mike Burns and Alex Dawson picked
up assists.
Paulley scored his second of the game on the
powerplay to tie the game with only 4:31
left on the clock.
Burns and Spencer Lightfoot assisted on the
play.
Paulley's incredible game continued in over
time as he and Nick Kozim set-up Adam
Teschke with the game winner at the 13:11
mark.
Kyle Washer stopped 42 of the 46 shots he
faced. Steinman also made 42 saves but on 47
shots.
Joel Stepniak, Scott Gawne, Dan Hyatt and
Jeremy Park scored for Dresden,
Game 6 will go Wednesday in Mooretown at
7:30 p.m.
