Mooretown vs Belle River

The Flags took their second loss in back to back games on Saturday losing to Belle River with a final score of 6 - 4.

Belle River took a 2 - 0 lead in the first period with the first goal a stunner just :39 seconds into the game by Jamie Aiken and adding their second 2:47 by Travis Brown.  Cody Chute scored for the hometown team with Spencer Lightfoot and Steve Mercier assisting on the goal at 13:29 but Belle River continued to push and added their 3rd goal at 16:46 by Andrew Hurst.  Scoring wasn't over as Cody Chute scored is second of the night late in the final minute to end the period with Belle River leading 3 - 2.

Belle River's Andrew Hurst was the threat this night as he went on to add 2 more goals in the second period the first a powerplay goal at 2:24 and the second an unassisted goal at 3:15.  Action continued with both sides going back and forth and late in the period at 18:14 Mike Burns from Josh Teschke and Adam Little narrowed the lead, Belle River answered back in the last minute of play to take a 6 - 3 lead heading into the third.

Third period action saw Aaron Schieman scoring from Jordan Pennesi and Donny Bowling at 12:55 but that wasn't enough as the period and game ended giving Belle River the win with a final score of 6 - 4.

Both sides were even with a total of 39 shots apiece.  Belle River went 1 for 7 on the powerplay - Mooretown went 0 for 4.
John Cruise was in net for the Flags taking the loss with Ryan Barnett in for Belle River for the win.

Mooretown has a night off then they are back in action on Monday night when they head to Wheatley for a 7:30 game start.
