Mooretown Flags at Wheatley

The Mooretown Flags took to
the road Monday night as they travel to Wheatley and came home with a 5
- 4 win that was decided in a shoot out.
After the first period both
sides each scored singles with the first goal scored by the Flag's
Jordan Pennesi at 15:56 and Shawn Quigley tying things up at 18:35.
In the second and third the see saw continued with Mooretown scoring
first and Wheatley answering back. Second period goals for
Mooretown were scored by Spencer Lightfoot and Cody Stout, for Wheatley
Shane Vienneau (powerplay) and Jesse Martin.
In the third Cody Stout scored his second of the night just :26 seconds
into the period, two minutes later Shaw Quigley scored his second and
tied things up. Score would remain at 4 - 4 for the rest of
regulation time sending the game into overtime.
Overtime produced no winner and the teams set up for the shoot out where
it took six shooters to decide. After the first five shooters
Travis Mullen, Jordan Pennesi, Cody Stout each scored for the Flags.
Wheatley goal scorers were Josh Carnevale, Shawn Quigley and Shane
Vienneau. The sixth shooter for Mooretown and game winner was
Jason Teschke, Wheatley's sixth shooter missed giving the Flags the win.
Jordan Gladwish went the
distance making a total of 37 saves, Marc Tremblay and Conner MacKinnon
shared the duties in net for Wheatley with a combine total of 22 saves.
Mooretown went 0 for 2 on
the powerplay, Wheatley went 1 for 5.
The Flags are back in action
on Friday night as they travel to Dresden then return home on Saturday
for the final regular season game to face Wallaceburg. Game time
is 7:30 pm for both games.
