vs Dresden Kings

It took a shoot out to
decide the games winner and it was the Mooretown Flags that came out on
top to take a 7 - 6 win over Dresden.
Dresden opened the scoring in the first period on a powerplay goal by
Justin Rossignol at the 2:00 minute mark. Dresden then went up 2 -
0 at 5:17 by Josh Beatty. Seconds later at 5:38 Jordan Pennesi put
the Flags on the scoreboard assisted by Zach Anderson. At 14:59
Donny Bowling evened the scored with Jason Teschke and Ryan Hunt
assisting. While Mooretown was serving time in the penalty box
late in the period Alex Dawson gave the Flags the 3 - 2 lead scoring a
shorthanded goal assisted by Jordan Pennesi and Mike Burns.
Second period action saw
Dresden come back with a pair the first on the powerplay by Aaron
Gibbings at 3:18 and the second by JoeDeboer at 11:05. The Flags
came back at 16:17 to tie things up with Spencer Lightfoot scoring
assisted by Raymond Martin and Cody Stout. The two teams headed to
the dressing room with the scored tied 4 - 4 leading into the third.
In the third Mooretown took
the lead just :28 seconds into the period by Travis Harper assisted by
Greg Babcock and Darby MacKinnon. Dresden answered back at 3:41
then regained the lead at 7:00 with goals by Justin Rossignol and Josh
Beatty. In the last minute of play Adam Little scored a powerplay
goal assisted by Donny Bowling and Jordan Pennesi to tie things up that
sent the game into overtime. Overtime action didn't solve the game
and it went shootouts to solve the game winner.
In the shoot out Mooretown
outshot Dresden 2 - 1 to give them the win. Donny Bowling scored
the first goal and Jordan Pennesi scored the game winner. Josh
Beatty scored the lone shootout goal for Dresden.
Mooretown outshot the Kings
59 - 36. Netminders Seth Anderson earned the win with a total of 30
saves and Brent Paxton took the loss making a total of 50 saves.
Next week the Flags travel to Alvinston on Friday night and return home
on Saturday Jan 23 for a rematch against Dresden. Game time 7:30
pm.
