Mooretown Flags vs Belle River

The Mooretown Flags first game of the year was a losing battle against Belle River after taking a 5 - 2 loss.

The Flags scored the only goal in the first period on the powerplay with Kurtis Glowa scoring from Cody Stout and Greg Babcock.  In the second the two teams shared a pair with Belle River Brett Hickey scoring first to tie things up then Kurtis Glowa earned his second goal assisted by Spencer Lightfoot to regain the lead.  Belle River caught up with a powerplay goal then went on to add two more before the period ended.  Scott Chauvin, Brett Hickey and Chad Rivait each scored.  The score heading into the third period was Belle River 4 - Mooretown 2.

In the third it was back and forth hockey and midway in the period Travis Brown of Belle River scored their second powerplay goal to widen the score by 3 and held on for the win.

Shots on goal were even with 37 each.  Mooretown went 1 for 7 on the powerplay, Belle River went 2 for 4.  Chad Summerfield earned the win with 35 saves, Jordan Gladwish took the loss with 32.

1st and 2nd stars of the game went to Belle River with Brett Hickey earning  #1 and Scott Chauvin taking the #2 spot. Mooretown Kurtis Glowa earned the 3rd star.

Next up the Flags travel to Kingsville on Sat Jan 9 and are back at home on Tuesday Jan 12 when they host Essex.  Game time is at 7:00 pm.
