Mooretown Flags vs Dresden

The Mooretown Flags are now in second place in the GLJHL North Division standings after Saturday's 6 - 2 win over the Dresden Jr. Kings.

After the first period of play both sides were even at 1 - 1.  Mooretown scored the first goal on the powerplay with Cody Stout scoring assisted by Jason Teschke and Alex Dawson.  Jordan Shine scored the Dresden goal.

In the second Travis Harper goal came at :39 seconds into the period gave Mooretown the lead.  Adam Little and Darby McKinnon assisted on the goal.  At the 4:00 minute mark Dresden's Dylan Mertz tied things up and four minutes later on a powerplay Mike Burns regained the lead with Travis Mullen and Brett Thompson assisting.  Burns' goal turned out to be the game winner as the period ended with Mooretown leading 3 - 2 and in the third Mooretown scored three more unanswered goals for the win.

Travis Mullen assisted by Jordan Pennesi scored the first third period goal, Jordan Pennesi scored a shorthanded goal assisted by Darby McKinnon and the final goal by Jason Teschke from Spencer Lightfoot.

Seth Anderson earned the win making a total of 25 saves and Eric Steinman took the loss with a total of 33 saves.

Mooretown went 2 for 12 on powerplay opportunities, Dresden went 0 for 8.

Mooretown is back in action Sunday for their third game in three nights when they travel to Blenheim.  Game time is set for 7:30 pm.
