Mooretown Flags vs Alvinston

If you wanted to see some
goals scored Saturday's game in Mooretown would have been the place to
be as both sides racked up the goals but it was the Flags that came out
on top with a final score of 9 - 6.
In the first period both sides each scored two goals. Gason
Teschke and Greg Babcock gave Mooretown the lead but the Flyers answered
back with a pair to tie things up with Connor Thompson and Chris Edwards
scoring.
In the second Zach Anderson regained the lead early in the period for
the Flags only to have Brock Hunter take it away less than a minute
later. Mooretown went on and scored three goals by Travis Mullen,
Alex Dawson and Cody Stout (powerplay) giving Mooretown a 3 goal lead.
Alvinston clawed back and came within one with goals by Adam Steadman
and Chris Edwards (powerplay). With just :01 second left on the
clock Jordan Pennesi widened the lead by two scoring on the powerplay.
Second period ended with Mooretown leading 7 - 5.
Connor Thompson narrowed the
Flags lead putting one in at 6:02. At 8:15 Brett Thompson regained
the two point spread for the Flags. In an attempt to come back
Alvinston pulled their goalie only to have Darby McKinnon score into the
empty net securing the game for the Flags.
Mooretown outshot the Flyers 35 - 24. Mooretown went 2 for 3 on
the powerplay, Alvinston went 1 for 5.
Seth Anderson earned the win in net for Mooretown, Alvinston netminder
Brodij Geryts was pulled early in the first period and replaced by
Brandon Campbell.
Mooretown has a day off
before they head to Wheatley on Monday. They are on the road next
Friday and back at home on Saturday for the final regular season game
taking on Wallaceburg. Game time 7:30.
