Mooretown Flags at
Belle River

The Flags went one and one
over the weekend with back to back games. On
Friday the team travelled to Belle River to face the
undefeated Belle River Canadiens and gave a good fight
but came up with a 8 - 5 loss. Belle River were
leading 3 - 2 after the first. The first two goals
for Belle River were scored early in the gane both on
the powerplay the first by Travis Brown and Kevin
Ringrose. Mike Burns put the Flags on the board
scoring a powerplay goal midway into the period.
Travis Brown added his second of the night before the
period ended and in the last minute of play Cody Stout
scored for the Flags.
Second period saw Belle
River take control and scored 4 goals with 2 on
powerplays. Donny Bowling broke up the sequence
midway. Justin Brown, Travis Brown (3rd goal, PP),
Mike Rapaich (PP) and Kevin Rigrose scored for the
Canadiens.
Third period Mooretown
continue to fight back and scored the first two goals
the first by Jason Teschke and the second by Donny
Bowling. Belle River cruised to finish the game
scoring their final goal in the last minute of play by
Scott Chauvin.
Mooretown Flags vs Wallaceburg
October 17, 2009
Back at home on Saturday
they hosted their long time rivals the Wallaceburg
Lakers who had previous defeated the Flags but it would
be the Flags to come up on top winning with a final
score of 4 - 2.
In the first period both
sides went scoreless. Wallaceburg opened the
scoring just :57 seconds in the period with Tyson Isaac
scoring. Less than a minute later Mooretown
answered back to tie things up with Travis Harper
scoring. Cody Stout gave the Flags a 2 - 1 lead
midway into the period and the score would remain the
same at the end of the second period.
Third period action saw
Brett Thompson widen the Flags lead. Wallaceburg
came back to narrow the gap with Orland Hopkins scoring.
In the last minute of play the Lakers pulled their
goalie for the extra man only to have Brent Sauve hit
the empty netter to seal the 4 - 3 win.
