Mooretown at Dresden

The Flags were back on the
road Friday night and came home with a close 6 - 5 win.
Dresden took the early lead
in the opening period on a goal scored by Cam Ross at
2:59. Adam Little tied things up at 13:15 and the
score would remain the same heading into the second
period.
Dresden again scored early
just :45 seconds on a powerplay goal by Scott Gawne.
Flags Spencer Lightfoot answered back at 2:57 then Jason
Teschke gave Mooretown the lead for the first time in
the game midway into the second and held on to the 3 - 2
lead heading into the third.
With a man short starting
the third period Mooretown would give up another early
period powerplay goal at :27 seconds to have both sides
back with a clean slate. Josh Beatty scored the
powerplay goal for Dresden. Donny Bowling regained
the lead for Mooretown at 1:11 then Jason Teschke opened
the lead to 2 with his second goal of the night.
Dresden's Dan Hyatt scored the 3rd powerplay goal of the
night to narrow the lead only to have Greg Babcock
answer back less than a minute later to keep the 2 point
spread. Late in the game Dresden pushed and Jesse
Allen scored at 17:15 but the Flags held on to take the
win.
Reid Rankin was the winning
goalie with 46 saves, Brent Paxton took the loss with 39
saves.
Mooretown went 0 for 6 in
powerplay opportunities, Dresden went 3 for 8.
Despite the win Mooretown
dropped to 4th spot in the standings race as Alvinston
(6 - 5) defeated Wallaceburg on Friday 2 - 1 to put them
over Mooretown (5 - 6). Wallaceburg (9 - 4)
remains in top spot, with Dresden (6 - 7) in second -
both teams are two games up. Mooretown takes on
Blenheim (2 - 11) tonight at home at 7:30 pm.
