Mooretown vs Blenheim
October 24, 2009
A last minute empty netter
by Alex Dawson sealed the deal for the Mooretown Flags
as they took a 7 - 5 win over Blenheim.
Mooretown opened the scoring
on a powerplay in the first by Chris Hoffman from Adam
Little and Donny Bowling. Less than a minute later
Bowling made it 2 - 0 with Jason Teschke and Raymond
Martin assisting. Late in the period Blenheim
bounced back and added a pair to end the period with
both sides even. Tyler Clarke scored both Blenheim
goals in the first.
Second period things got
scary for the Flags as Blenheim took the lead by 2 with
Ben Campbell and Owen Kent scoring. Midway into
the period and on a penalty kill, Mooretown's Chris
Hoffman scored an unassisted shorthanded goal to narrow
the lead. Travis Harper from Spencer Lightfoot and
Cody Stout evened things up three quarters into the
period and in the final minute of play Jordan Pennesi
recovered the lead for the Flags. Mike Burns and
Alex Dawson assisted. Score leading into the 3rd
was 5 - 4 for Mooretown.
It wasn't until the 15:06 mark into the third when the
lamp on the scoreboard changed with Mike Burns scorint
the 6th goal for the Flags from Jordan Pennesi and
Raymond Martin. Blenheim fought back and found
themselves on a powerplay and with just a minute and :06
seconds left in the game they narrowed the lead.
Aaron Blonde scored the powerplay goal for Blenheim.
But the last minute man advantage was enough in which
the Flags capitalized by Dawson empty netter to give the
Flags their second win in two nights.
Mooretown went 1 for 6 on
powerplays Blenheim went 1 for 5. Both sides were even
with total shots on goal at 41 each.
Reid Ranking took the win in net for Mooretown, Dylan
Vanderpol was in net for the Blenheim loss.
