Mooretown Flags vs Blenheim
October 3, 2009

The Flags swept the Blenheim Blades in the home/home series with a final score of 8 - 5 in Mooretown.  (Last week they won 9 - 4)

Chris Hoffman from Zach Anderson opened the scoring at 2:27 in the first.  Blenheim answered back at 4:55 and 7:00 by Tyler Clarke and Brady Campbell to take the lead.  Travis Mullen scored an unassisted goal to even the score at 7:51 and Alex Dawson from Jason Teschke and Adam Little from Mullen added 2 more goals to end the first period with the Flags leading 4 - 2.

In the second period at 2:04 Darby McKinnon scored assisted by Zach Anderson.  Blenheim managed to score on the powerplay by Dan Paget at 3:10.  Just past the nine minute mark Neven Wiebenga scored for Blenheim.  At this point the score was 5 - 4 for Mooretown.  Alex Dawson widen the gap for Mooretown when he scored on a powerplay with Jason Teschke and Ryan Hunt assisting.  Before the period ended Brett Thompson added to the Mooretown scoreboard assisted by Travis Mullen to make it 7 - 4 for the Flags heading into the third period.

Another early goal in the third period by Alex Dawson on the powerplay assisted by Travis Mullen and Chris Hoffman that ended to be the final goal for the Flags.  Blenheim scored a single in the third on the powerplay by Aaron Blonde, but  time ran out giving the Flags their 3rd win of the season.

Reid Rankin took the win for the Flags in net with a total of 40 saves.  Blenheim's goaltending was shared by Zack Knudsen and Dylan Vanderpol with a combine total of 30 saves.  Mooretown went 2 for 5 on the powerplay - Blenheim went 2 for 9.  Mooretown received a total of 27 penalty minutes on 13 infractions - Blenheim took 19 minutes on 10.

  • Three stars of the night were all from Mooretown with Alex Dawson receiving the 1st star (3 goals), Travis Mullen 2nd star (1 goal, 3 assists) and Chris Hoffman 3rd star (1 goal, 1 assist)

  • Mooretown is now in 3rd place in the North Division with 3 wins - 3 losses.

  • Next up - Mooretown has a single game this week as they hosts Kingsville on Wed Oct 7, game time is set for 8:00 pm.
