Mooretown Flags

The
Mooretown Flags came up with a Home Town Win in their
home opener against Wheatley with a final score of 5 -
3.
Reid Ranking
went the distance in net for the Flags making a total of
31 saves in the win. Netminder for Wheatley was Laine
Parent with 37 saves.
Rookie Greg
Babcock opened the scoring with his his first goal of
season at 3:12. Assisting were Travis Harper and
Alex Dawson. Wheatley answered back at 4:33 to
even things up. Jordan Carneval scored for
Wheatley. At the 17:06 mark Brett Thompson scored
to take the Mooretown 2 - 1 lead heading into the second
period. Team captain Jordan Pennesi and Alex
Dawson assisted on the goal.
With just
:58 ticks off the clock Pennesi gave Mooretown the 3 - 1
lead assisted by Mike Burns. Before the period
ended Wheatley fought back and the scored was tied at
the end 3 - 3. Jesse Martin and Josh Carneval (PP)
scored for Wheatley at 7:25 and 19:05.

Mooretown's
Darby McKinnon from Spencer Lightfoot scored the winning
goal at 6:53. The two teams battled back and forth
and with the Flags short one man Spencer Lightfoot
scored shorthanded to secure the win at 18:56.

Mooretown took a total time of 18 penalty minutes on
9 infractions, Wheatley's total was 48 minutes on 12
infractions. (Wheatley took major penalties in
the third including Abuse of an Official.

Jordan Pennesi (3pts) taking the first star, Spencer
Lightfoot second star and Alex Dawson third star.
